Theatre Of Ice - 3 tapes

Three early cassettes from Theatre Of Ice. Although what came after has a more 'typical' gothic rock sound, these three tapes are much more on the experimental side. Heavy Chrome-damage abounds, always a good thing.

"Theatre of Ice were an early Deathrock (Gothic rock) band that formed in the Nevada desert in December 1978. Initially formed to record a soundtrack for a horror movie, the members instead evolved into what some claim was the first Deathrock band. Owing more initially to experimental groups such as Throbbing Gristle, Suicide and Chrome, the band also cited bands as diverse as Iron Butterfly, Blue Öyster Cult, The Moody Blues and Roxy Music as major influences. Theatre of Ice brought a modern approach to gothic-horror themes by tackling the idea of an underground spook show in the contemporary world."

Wow "The Haunting" availbale online. I had the original about 30 years ago but lost it in one of a dozen moves. Been looking for a copy ever since. "A wagon load of corpses" was always a favorite.
They learned how to play and ended up more or less a hard rock band... but you have to love this early stuff. Especially the album "A Cool Dark Place to Die" and songs like "Twilight Messiah".

Actually, looks like they have done a cd-r reissue of A Cool Dark Place To Die. Found on their site, although I have no idea how up to date it is.

Because of the recent interest in THEATRE OF ICE by Hollywood (a couple of different movie projects in various phases of pre-production and a television series) I know some unreleased material will finally see the light of day. Wouldn't be surprised to see some of the older stuff reissued as well.

The album "Mouse Blood" is a available on cd-r. It's a "sampling of the works of the band chosen by people who think they suck".

My name is Brent and I was the singer (so to speak) on these three tapes. I am amazed me at the recent interest in these early offerings. I appreciate this stuff getting posted to the web so that people can have the chance to finally hear the first 2 albums. As has been previously posted both "A Cool Dark Place to Die" and "Mouse Blood" are available on CDr.

If anyone has any questions about the good old days be sure and drop us a line on Facebook. Most of the members are active users and we try to keep on top of stuff daily.
