Concrete sounds installations in movement.
"With my installations, that I create with found objects of various different materials, I try to work on a (sonic) articulation of different forms of space and movement...
The sounds of side A were recorded directly on a Sony professional, the sounds of side B were recorded on a Fostex 160 and mastered on a Sony professional without effects."
List of the used objects:
brick; bamboo; metal, wood, and glass bars
plastic shade; bamboo; loaf sugar
metallic stand from iron board; palm branch
cake tin; bread shovel
metallic rings; metallic heating shade
wood sewing machine cover; sugarloaf; wood spool
Feedback, Feed Me, Feedelity
"Microphone, amplifier, and loudspeaker used as 'closed circuit' means, to use them against the, to them awarded, aesthetic function... Feedbacks can be generated through the electromechanical stimulation of the own resonance of the integrated membranes in microphone and loudspeaker...
...On the this tape presented recordings, I've specially integrated analogue effects, 2 voltage controlled filters, and one delay. The feedbacks between the various microphones and loudspeakers are additional manipulated by the use of tubes, buckets, clay forms, metal cases. The whole was recorded on a Fostex 160 and is mastered on a Sony professional without additional effects."

Small Cruel Party / Kiyoshi Mizutani - Split
Small Cruel Party / Kiyoshi Mizutani - Split
Flenix (FLR04) 2000
"Small Cruel Party's work is focused on the inherent mysterious and beautiful quality of sound itself, with the emphasis on noninstrumental sound sources, the source itself not being readily apparent. Work generally involves manipulation of physical objects in acoustic space and a great deal of concentrated activity. Even in pieces involving dense sound at high volume the resultant effect is one of intense calm."
Kiyoshi Mizutani - folk instruments (types of rattles) and sampled materials:
1. Instruments made of animal's claws and human voices.
2. Instruments made of nuts and the wave.
3. Belt of nuts and electric saw.
4. Maracas made of ceramic and boards.

Pacific 231 - Sachlichkeit
Originally part of the early 80's industrial/power electronics scene, French artist Pacific 231 (Pierre Jolivet) soon moved on to a more atmospheric and experimental territory. This tape consists of two pieces. Side A is a bit noisier with trumpet(?), voice, and delay. Side B is more rhythmic with voice, bass, chimes, and choral voices. Very meditative.
Currently based in Dublin, Ireland. Pacific 231 - Sound Exploration in Motion

All music decoumposed by Z'ev, Megs'on (Genesis P'Orridge), & Gini Ball.
This is the first in a series of special releases of music by members of Psychic TV. Limited to 100 copies.
"Thee processed trumpet is from a recording made in 1963 ov a US Marine Trumpeter trying to play reveille whilst high on a dose ov LSD during secret trials ov it's effectiveness as a 'psychomimmetic' weapon.
Instruments used apart from thee trumpet tape to generate initial sounds prior to heavy processing are all ritual instruments. They include Tibetan Bowls, Nepalese Temple Bells, African Goat Skin Drums, and an array of percussion from thee four directions ov B-Earth. No electronic or amplified instruments were used.
In particular, Z'ev played all drums, Gini played all violins.
Thee Self-imposed brief was to create a musick that had thee same psychoactive trance effects as ancient ritual musicks first generated on thee original instruments used, butter regenerated through a purely coumtemporary system ov effects."

Croiners - The Relentless Rhythm of Change
Excellent tape of looped madness and keyboard maladies. A longtime favorite.
"Croiners (a.k.a. James Levine) has taken digital and tape-loop technology beyond its minimalist beginnings, blending complex layers of synthesized and natural sounds with occasional found-sound elements, weaving involved and colorful textures into nearly tangible sound objects."

blackhumour - radical positive
This was a double cassette that came wrapped and sealed in tar. You had to break open the package to get to the tapes. 'peace in our time' was re-released on it's own in 1988 as a single cassette in 1988, and then on CD in 1993.
"The blackhumour audio project had its beginnings in early 1982 with the first few experiments I was doing on my teac 4-track reel-to-reel recorder. The resulting early pieces were not so good, but some of the pieces which were done with my then audio-partner, somebody else, were successful. Two of these pieces, 'murder', and 'trade and commerce', are included in the retrospective of early bh work, 'radical positive' (banned productions). This release also shows the evolution of the blackhumour approach away from treatment/effects techniques of any kind, such as equalization, reverberation, flanging, echo, etc., and the choice made by blackhumour to use as its sole sound-construction source the use of 'found-object' human voice only, with the exclusion of such tape techniques as speed-masking (speeding up or slowing down the sound of the voice) or back-masking (the notorious technique of playing the voices backwards). Since 'snakes in an atheist's grave' (1984), NO blackhumour piece has used anything other than found object (spoken) human voice and editing techniques..."
Here is the second tape only, since "peace in our time" has been posted elsewhere -

Thanks to blackhumour and amk for their help with the tracklist, as I'd lost the packaging and titles at some point over the years.

Doc Wör Mirran - Severe Pig
Not sure how to define this other than excellent noisy experimental garagey weirdness. A great album.
"Musically, it is one of DWM's typical hybrid albums, featuring both guitar oriented tracks mixed with industrial and experimental, and although the production can be rough, it has stood the test of time and remains one of the best DWM releases."

blackhumour - binary (and/or)
One my favorite sound artists, using only the human voice as source material.
"NO blackhumour piece has used anything other than found object (spoken) human voice and editing techniques. (since 1986, digital editing has been included, thanks to inexpensive digital sampling.) I wanted the sound source to be absolutely basic. The human voice speaking was about as basic as i could get. The rationale being that we are constantly hearing speech, whether it is from others, or simply the sound of our own voices in our ears."

□ 9 - Tsunami .2
Usually referred to as Square Nine, a one off LP on the Majora label. The only info on this is "Recorded and mixed live by □ 9 at the Grande Theater, Buenos Aires". But, from the Official Sun City Girls Discography:
"Square Nine is a collaboration with the Residents and David Oliphant from Maybe Mental. There, I said it! (Camera switches to a boarding house full of self-proclaimed Residents 'completists' scrambling for the nearest butcher knife to end it all). Of course it couldn't be true, right? Hell, I never took any oath!" -- Rick Bishop
